Comserve Achieve F-Gas Company Certification

Under the F-Gas Regulations (European Commission Regulation 303/2008 ) it became mandatory that from the 4th July 2009, any company involved in the installation, maintenance or servicing of refrigeration and air-conditioning / heat pump equipment must have obtained an F-Gas Company Certificate.
We are pleased to announce that we have been issued with an interim Company Certificate from Refcom Ltd, the official certification body. We have also been included on the Register of Companies Competent to Handle Refrigerants. This replaces our previous voluntary registration on the Refcom scheme.
To achieve this Certification we were independently assessed and had to prove that each engineer carrying out SRAC work has one of the following industry qualifications:
- Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) J01 also known as CITB 206710
- City and Guilds 2078
We were also able to confirm that we have in place appropriate gas recovery systems and refrigerant handling procedures.
Our current Certificate allows us to carry out all refrigerant handling activities for any size and type of air conditioning and refrigeration systems containing HFC and HCFC gases. This includes leakage checking, refrigerant recovery, installation, maintenance and servicing.
This Certificate is valid until July 2011 but we will ensure all of our engineers receive the appropriate training to enable us to obtain a Category 1 full certificate prior to the deadline. There are lower categories of certification but these restrict the holders to smaller size systems and limtations to the activities they can perform. For full details of the certification requirements please visit the following link: http://www.refcom.org.uk/refcom_fgas_certification.aspx
You should also be aware that if you have fire protection systems using HFC gases, many similar obligations related to leakage prevention and the use of qualified personnel may apply.
It is now a criminal offence for personnel to carry out the above activities without the relevant qualifications and any subconractor that you may use, or be considering, must have an appropriate Company Certificate.
Should you wish to discuss the implication of this Regulation please do not hesitate to contact us.
